All saints have a past. All sinners have a future
Boy have I sinned! Coming clean (literally!) about my addiction problems has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I would rather be known as an honest sinner than a lying hypocrite. Speaking my truth has turned my life around & my secret into a story…
Don’t judge someone just because they sin differently to you. Addiction is addiction. Be it drugs, alcohol, food, gambling, television, technology, video games, prescription pills, people, sex, surgery, sugar, shopping, smoking…the list goes on! Yes some are better than others, but every form of addiction is bad no matter whether the narcotic be wine or heroin or chocolate…
We all get addicted to something that takes away the pain at one point or another in our lives. Something that helps us escape reality. Everyone has a story. So before you pass judgement on someone who is being self destructive, remember there’s a reason why they’re behaving that way. We’re all fighting our own battles, just different wars…
Unfortunately I have a highly addictive personality & have had many addictions in my life. There will always be something I am completely obsessed with! I can’t help myself, it’s just my nature. My new obsession is taking care of myself mentally, physically & spiritually, but I still need to keep this in check so I don’t get carried away!
The secret to permanently breaking bad habits is to love something more than the habit. For me, I’m completely in love with my new life! Nothing beats waking up clean & sober each & every morning. It’s fucking amazing! What a blessing & a gift! Over the past year I’ve found good habits are as addictive as bad habits, only much more rewarding!
What good habits help keep you & your sobriety in check?
